Morus alba, known as white mulberries or common mulberry is a fast-growing, small to medium-sized mulberry tree that grows to 10–20 m tall. It is generally a short-lived tree. The species is native to India, and Central China and is widely cultivated and naturalized elsewhere (including Iran, the United States, Mexico, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Argentina, Turkey, India, and many others). Each cup of raw white mulberries contains just 60 calories, but 2.4 grams of dietary fiber and 2.6 milligrams of iron, along with high levels of vitamin C, riboflavin (vitamin B-2), and vitamin K.  In addition, white mulberries contain resveratrol, an antioxidant that has anti-aging and weight-loss effects.

Dried white mulberries can be eaten as a snack but are also an excellent substitute for raisins in granola, random mixes, smoothies, muffins, cakes, and cookies.

Dried mulberries will stay fresh in the pantry for up to 12 months in an air-tight container. For longer shelf life, store in the fridge.
