Coconut comes from the palm tree family. It has a sweet, nutty and mild flavour. This fruit is native to Central Indo-Pacific.

Its global market was more than 4 billion dollars in 2019. Indonesia, the Philippines, and India are the largest producers of this fruit. Indonesia produced more than 17 million tons of this fruit in 2019 and India followed that with 14 million tons. Also, China, the United States, and the Netherlands are the top importers of this fruit. China imported 227 million tons of coconut in 2019 and the U.S. followed that with 179 million tons.

Coconuts are especially high in manganese, which is essential for bone health and the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and cholesterol. They’re also rich in copper and iron, which help form red blood cells, as well as selenium, an important antioxidant that protects your cells. It is recommended that consumption of this fruit must not be more than two tablespoons (28 grams) a day.

This fruit must be stored at  0°C to 1,5°C and if it is kept in good condition can last for around 4 months.
