Papaya comes from genus Carica family. It has sweet flavor similar to cantaloupe melons or a more exotic version of a mango. This fruit is native southern Mexico and Central America.

The Global market value of this fruit has been 1 billion dollars in 2021. India, Brazil and Mexico are the largest producers of this fruit. India exported 5 million tons of this fruit in 2018. Brazil and Mexico have been place in next stages with 1 million tons export in the mentioned year. Unites State and Germany are the top importer of this fruit. Around 40 percent of global import market of this fruit belongs to these two countires.

Papayas contain high levels of antioxidants vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Diets high in antioxidants may reduce the risk of heart disease. The antioxidants prevent the oxidation of cholesterol. When cholesterol oxidizes, it’s more likely to create blockages that lead to heart disease. Consuming this fruit in the morning is recommended.

This fruit should be stored from 7 to 13°C (45 to 55°F) with 90 to 95% relative humidity and if it be kept in good condition, it last for less than one week.
